CAE Designation Ceremony - Hosted at DU by DU/UCCS

NSA selects Denver and DU as location of the Northwest CAE region designation ceremony

Event Dates: September 8th & 9th, 2022

Overview

The NSA (National Science Agency) evaluates and accredits institutions providing Cyber Security degrees and curricula. This is a rigorous and prestigious validation performed by security experts and other members of other educational institutions. Institutions that receive this accreditation are formally designated in specific regional ceremonies. DU and potentially any other newly designated or redesignated schools can choose Denver as their designation location. CAE institutions that wish to join the ceremony and (even those not receiving their official designation) are invited to join.

The NSA approval means that our institution’s curriculum meets the standards put forth by the NSA and DoD in formulating effective Cybersecurity education. Specifically, this means that the coursework of the Cybersecurity MS program at DU aligns with and meets criteria related to knowledge units developed as part of the US government’s focus areas. These knowledge units are derived from or mapped to components of the NICE framework.

More information can be found at the official NSA academic site here.

Current and Prospective Students

If you are a current student in our Cyber program, or perhaps considering leveling up by exploring a degree in cybersecurity, what does this mean for you? It means that you can be confident that our program meets or exceeds rigorous standards developed by the United States top security agency and Department of Defense for educating cyber warriors.

It does not mean we have the same curriculum as other schools with cybersecurity degrees! There is no one set curriculum that meets these standards, rather a broad set of cybersecurity topics with specific knowledge units. In order to be validated, the program needs to cover multiple disparate topics from this broad set, so that the program as a whole is well-rounded, and teaching important concepts that the cybersecurity pros of tomorrow need to know.

The department of Computer Science and the University of Denver are proud to have this accreditation from the NSA!
